Today we introduce IELTS to new learners, and explain the format and structure of our first IELTS skill - IELTS Speaking. Here are some key aspects and tips to help you prepare for the IELTS Speaking section:
Structure of the IELTS Speaking Test:
-
Part 1: Introduction and Interview (4-5 minutes): The examiner will introduce themselves, ask for your identification, and initiate a general discussion. Questions in this part are usually about familiar topics such as family, hobbies, studies, work, etc.
-
Part 2: Long Turn (3-4 minutes): You'll be given a cue card with a specific topic. You have one minute to prepare and make notes before speaking for 1-2 minutes on the topic. After your talk, the examiner might ask a follow-up question.
-
Part 3: Discussion (4-5 minutes): A more in-depth discussion related to the topic in Part 2. The questions are broader and more abstract, focusing on opinions, ideas, and issues.
