IELTS General Reading Section

The General Reading test has 40 questions to answer in 60 minutes. The test is divided into three parts. In the first two parts, you will read everyday texts such as advertisements, timetables, or workplace notices. The third part contains a longer and more complex passage. Question types include multiple choice, matching information, True/False/Not Given, sentence completion, and more. To succeed, you need to practice scanning for keywords, skimming for main ideas, and managing your time effectively. On this site, you’ll find tips, strategies, and sample exercises to build your confidence.

IELTS General Writing Task 1 Section

In Writing Task 1, you must write a letter of at least 150 words in about 20 minutes. The letter may be formal (to a company or official), semi-formal (to someone you know in a professional way), or informal (to a friend). Your answer should include a greeting, an introduction, clear paragraphs for your main points, and a polite closing. The most important skill is choosing the right tone and style for your reader. On this site, you can explore useful phrases, sample letters, and step-by-step guidance on how to structure a strong response that meets IELTS marking criteria.

Strategies & Tips Page

Success in IELTS is not only about English level — it’s also about strategy. For Reading, always read the instructions carefully, underline keywords, and avoid spending too much time on one question. Remember that answers usually follow the order of the passage. For Writing Task 1, plan your letter before you start: decide the tone, list the points you must cover, and use linking words to connect your ideas. Avoid copying whole sentences from the prompt, and always check your spelling and grammar at the end. With the right strategies, you can save time and increase your score.
